ASDEPO, in collaboration with ZOA and with financial support from the Ethiopia Humanitarian Fund (EHF), played an important role in improving household food security and resilience among crisis-affected communities in Habru Woreda, North Wollo.
Through the project, “Addressing Malnutrition in Crisis-Affected Woredas,” vulnerable farming households received timely access to improved wheat seeds and fertilizer, enabling them to make better use of irrigation systems and the Belg production season. The intervention specifically targeted households facing food insecurity and limited agricultural capacity, providing them with the necessary agricultural inputs and technical support at the right time.
The project contributed to improved land preparation, planting, and crop establishment, allowing farmers to maximize the use of their available land and gradually restore agricultural production despite challenging conditions. As a result, beneficiary households experienced meaningful improvements in crop productivity, access to essential agricultural inputs, and their ability to withstand future shocks.
With improved harvest prospects and a greater capacity to meet household food needs for several months, the project stands as a strong example of practical, recovery-oriented humanitarian assistance. The collaboration between ZOA and ASDEPO demonstrates how timely agricultural support can help vulnerable communities recover, strengthen their resilience, and rebuild their livelihoods.
We sincerely thank the EHF for their valuable support to communities affected by conflict, drought, and flooding in Ethiopia.
