ASDEPO has been implementing a project on Promoting Peaceful Coexistence among Afar-Issa Communities through Promoting Traditional Conflict Resolution Mechanisms in Afar zones 1, 3 and Somali’s Sitti Zone: Adaytu of Mille woreda, Undufo of Gewane woreda, and Gedamaytu of Amibara woreda with financial support of International Republican Institute. Different activities were executed to accomplish the objectives of the project. c
Consultative Workshop on Peace Building & Traditional Conflict Resolution Mechanisms and Reflection Session on the Overall Project Implementation Process with both Afar-Issa Communities and peace project stakeholder’s were the last activates implemented in Nov 9-10/2022 in Dire Dawa city Administration.
In the first day of the Presentation on Peace Building and Traditional Conflict Resolution Mechanisms was presented by Mr Kydaki from MoP, Mr Guled from DDU lecture and Ms Mahlet from ASDEPO; Discussion, Question & Answer Session on the main discussion points has been done by participants & facilitators of the workshop and finally Recap, Discussion and Closing remarks executed.
The second day was reflection session it started with Presentation on the overall project implementation by Ms Mahlet Project focal person, followed by discussion on challenges, success Question and Answer session on the main discussion points, and Recap and Closing remark was the final activity done.
During the reflection session the representatives from both Afar and Issa appreciated the effort of ASDEPO on peace building between the two communities and they promised that they could go back to their communities and will try to make things better and work hard to solve the problems.
