About ASDEPO
Action for Social Development and Environmental Protection Organization (ASDEPO) is an Ethiopian CSO; non-governmental and non-profit making humanitarian organization established in 2014. ASDEPO has registered under the new CSO legislation on charity and society proclamation number 1113/2019 with the registration number of 3528. ASDEPO is mandated to operate in all regional states and city administrations of the country.

ASDEPO Thematic Program Areas
ASDEPO is engaged in ten thematic program areas of intervention namely Education, Health/HIV and AIDS, Nutrition, Community and Family Support, Women and Youth economic empowerment, livelihood and Skill Training, Water, Sanitation and hygiene, Environmental Protection, Child Protection and Humanitarian response.
Since its Establishment , ASDEPO has implemented “Development” and “Humanitarian Response Programs” within it’s projects more than two million beneficiaries has benefited from different program interventions.

GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT WITH FINANCIAL ADMINSTRATION
Governance and Management

ASDEPO is governed by a Board of Directors elected by the General Assembly, which gives all supreme decision and overall organization policy direction and guidance. The General Assembly and the Board of Directors are the highest authority that ultimately approve the organization’s annual budget and work-plan and elect the board.

Governance and Management

The operation of the Secretariat is guided by Financial and Personnel Manuals that follow universally accepted standards and regulations of the government. It is structured in to Programme, Finance and & Admin Departments at head quarter level Yeka sub city. Currently, ASDEPO has a total of 20 technical and supporting staffs at head office level. The technical staffs ranges from PhD to Diploma levels.

Governance and Management

The secretariat is headed by the Executive Director who follows the day-to-day program/project activities & administrative matters and has qualified technical staff in various disciplines. The Executive Director, Program Director and Finance Director, Finance Manager and other officers operate with defined mandate and responsibilities as well as shared and complimentary duties in the fields of program, finance and administration.

Financial Management

ASDEPO has financial manual. All financial transactions such as budget request, approval and endorsement are strictly followed based on the procedures of the financial manual. In line with this, it uses Peachtree Accounting software and Cash based accounting system to manage numerous accounting tasks. All financial transactions are audited by external auditors on yearly basis in accordance with the financial manual. This manual puts a system that provides adequate internal control over the resources of the organization to enhance the efficiency of the overall management of its operations in place. The management committee of the ASDEPO is composed of Executive Director, Program Director, Finance and Admin Director and Finance Manager.

ASDEPO Strategic Objectives
  • Improve the wellbeing of Women and Children
  • Develop children’s, women’s and youth’s potential and create an enabling environment that ensures their participation in development and economic growth.
  • Enhancing gender equality (by fighting against gender based violence and preventing harmful traditional practices, especially on women) and enhance the social, economic and political empowerment of women thereby contributing to the improvement of the general life of the Ethiopian society.
  • Improving the intake capacity and quality of educational service at formal schools and Non formals.

ASDEPO provided capacity building programs in the form of training’s reference books equipment’s /material supports construction of latrines libraries scholastic materials school play grounds water points and connection
It also has gender manual, focal person and mainstreaming gender issues in its entire program and distributes different sanitary kits. ASDEPO is also implementing “Communication for Health” project on RMNCH/FP, PMTCT/HIV/AIDS, Malaria, Nutrition, WASH, and TB funded by USAID through John Snow Inc.(JSI) childhood education and RH and HIV/AIDS.
